The Story of Moonshine Candle Co.

Moonshine Candle Co. was founded in my mother’s kitchen during lockdown—a time when life slowed, and Orkney’s serene landscapes became a daily source of reflection. After losing my job in Edinburgh due to the pandemic, I returned home to visit family in the Orkney Islands, seeking comfort in the simple rituals of island life.

With a new found appreciation for island living, providing calm amongst the chaos, I started making candles as a way to capture those moments, filling my home with scents that reminded me of Orkney’s beauty and stillness. What began as a small hobby quickly became a passion—I loved the idea of creating something that could help others find a little peace in their day, no matter where they were. And so, Moonshine Candle Co. was born.

From the very beginning, my mission has been to craft candles that evoke a sense of calm and connection. Hand-poured in small batches using 100% natural, vegan-friendly soy wax, each candle reflects Orkney’s raw beauty and a commitment to mindful, considered craftsmanship.

Moonshine Candle Co. exists to celebrate what makes this island so special—its landscapes, its tranquillity, and the sense of warmth and belonging it brings. Through scent, I hope to transport you to these moments, bringing the essence of Orkney into your home.
